Principal’s Message

On behalf of the faculty and staff of Burnsville Elementary School, I both welcome and thank you for visiting our website. I am excited about the upcoming year and the possibilities ahead for your student(s).

Last year was a very successful year with test scores increasing overall 5 points!!!!!

BES continues to be a Title 1 school. This year we will be continuing to implement the following:

Fundations Reading in the primary grades, Singapore Math in grades K-3 and Motivation Math. Our PBIS committee, based on survey results, is looking at an overhaul of the PBIS program with plans to implement a new reward system for expectations. We will be continuing to add to our technology at school. Many staff members have attended professional development this summer pertaining to the above areas.

New things to look for this year include but are not limited to: new mural in the cafeteria and media center, new  Pre-K program on site, new fence installed on the back playground, all outside structures painted, 4 new Promethean boards installed, class groups will stay in homerooms for a majority of the instructional day, mini iPads sets purchased for the K-2 classes, new dishwasher purchased, continued partnership with Higgins Methodist Church and the CIS program.

Parents will continue to have access to their child(s) information through Power School. This is an internet based program that NCDPI has implemented and is linked directly to individual student information. Teachers post information on this routinely and can provide you with guides on how to access the information.

Once again, thanks for visiting our website. If you need to contact me the number at school is 682-4515.

I look forward to hearing from you.

It is my hope that you and your child will have a great year!!
